Interior Inspiration: Beautiful Boudoirs

We all know the importance of a good night’s sleep but lately I have to admit that I’ve been guilty of burning the candle at both ends with late nights and early mornings. It started on holiday when we would stay up late, drinking wine and enjoying the balmy weather and peaceful surroundings. Now that we’re back home I’ve ditched the wine but I’m still staying up late working, reading blogs and watching Orange is the new Black (I only started watching it a couple of weeks ago and am already on episode 9 of the second series..) With the holiday behind us, lie-ins are also a thing of the past especially as the boys start back at school tomorrow.

I know what I need to do: go to bed earlier, cut down on caffeine, avoid looking at the computer at least an hour before bedtime, have a warm bath in the evening etc. But in the meantime, just looking at these pictures of gorgeous, restful bedrooms (from my Pinterest board – where else?) is also helping me feel more relaxed. Which one is your favourite?

Interior Inspiration: Kitchen Thoughts

I’ve mentioned before that we are intending to extend our house this year to create another bedroom in the loft and demolish the hated conservatory. Well, planning permission has finally been secured and the builder has been booked for this autumn so now it’s time for the fun stuff like choosing the kitchen. We have never done a project like this before so it is a real opportunity to create the space that we want, but also quite daunting. A guy from one of the local kitchen companies came over today to do some measurements and give us a few ideas. As we don’t have tons of space or a limitless budget (I wish..) I’m sure that we will have to make a few compromises along the way but in the meantime I have been scouring Pinterest for inspiration (as you do).

Have any of you carried out major kitchen renovations? If so, what are the dos and don’ts? Please share as we need all the advice we can get! X

Pin-Worthy Summer Recipes

Lately I’ve been trying to add more vegetables to my diet. Now that summer is almost here, fresh produce is in abundance so it’s the ideal time to shift your healthy eating up a gear. I love salads but find that unless I add protein and/or grains, they don’t really fill me up and I’m hungry again an hour or two later. As always, Pinterest is an endless source of inspiration and I’ve been busy pinning a few recipes I would like to try over the next few weeks. Now, if only I could convince my two youngest kids that these dishes are so much nicer than pizza or plain pasta…

Interior Inspiration: Cool Kids Rooms

I have just spent an hour or so looking at kids rooms on Pinterest – funny how time flies when you’re on there, I always keep thinking, just one more pin! It’s so addictive..

I would love to incorporate some of these ideas into my own children’s rooms. At the moment, most of my planned house projects are on hold as the layout may change with our planned building work, which is taking far too long to come to fruition for my liking. Hopefully we will do our extension before they are all teenagers and have firm opinions of their own on what they want!

Interior Inspiration: A Touch of Monochrome

With a wardrobe that mainly consists of monochrome pieces with a bit of denim and neutrals mixed in, perhaps it is not surprising that I am drawn to interior schemes that also reflect my taste in clothing. Black and white is a timeless combination that can easily be varied and updated by adding colourful accessories.

All these pictures and more are on my Pinterest board ‘My dream abode’.

Dreaming of Chanel

Chanel Collage

Tonight, my dear friends, I am dreaming of a classic, quilted Chanel flap bag. Nonchalantly thrown over the shoulder it would be the perfect accessory to set off my spring wardrobe. I like it best when it’s paired with a casual outfit like the ripped jeans or slouchy sweater in the pictures above – the juxtaposition of polished and dishevelled gets me every time…
The price tag may be steep (to put it mildly!) but a classic Chanel bag will always be in style. And if your appetite hasn’t been sated by these pictures, there is of course a Pinterest board with even more inspiration – check it out here

Which accessory would you love to own if money was no object?

Currently Coveting #18: Stripes for Spring

Stride into spring wearing classic, crisp Breton stripes. Teamed with skinny jeans, colourful flats and a touch of sparkly jewellery, it is the perfect outfit for channeling that particularly French brand of effortless daytime style. Did you know that the Breton stripe has been a sartorial staple of chic Parisians since 1917 when Coco Chanel famously transformed a fisherman’s top into the iconic piece?

New York Fashion Week – My Favourite Street Style Snaps

I’m ashamed to admit that I have not been paying too much attention to New York fashion week apart from a brief glance at the Vogue.com daily updates. Now that I have belatedly caught up with some of the proceedings, it is – as per usual – the street style that has caught my eye as much (or more) as the catwalk creations. You have to hand it to them – these NYC fashionistas know how to rock a chic cold weather look. Here are some of my favourites:
