This Week’s Favourites

This week's faves 6:10:13

Where has the time gone? It seems like it was only yesterday that I wrote my last ‘Favourites’ post and now it’s Sunday again. Looking back at the photos I can see that even though the week flew by, as usual we managed to squeeze quite a lot in.

1. Because of the building work going on at home, the house was covered in dust at the start of the week so Clemmie and I escaped to a nearby village for brunch. I had Eggs Benedict, one of my all-time favourites.

2. We have finally chosen the tiles to go around the sink in the new downstairs cloakroom. Fingers crossed, it should all be finished by the end of this week in time for my husband’s birthday party on Saturday. I will of course share pictures when it’s all done.

3. I also managed to plant some herbs in two of the pots I bought in Sweden this summer. They were a bargain at less than £10 for three and I love the chalkboard labels on them.

4. I went to two exercise classes this week and decided to reward myself (and my aching muscles) with some new workout clothes from Sweaty Betty.

5. I also bought an early birthday present for myself from Space NK – I just can’t go into that store without buying something!

6. The highlight of the week was without a doubt my birthday on Wednesday and a meal out at Jamie’s Italian to celebrate with my husband and kids.

7. Like mother like daughter. Clemmie seems to have inherited my love of magazines and pesters me to buy one every time we go shopping. This one certainly lives up to is name: I think it has got every shade of pink imaginable on the cover.

8. I made a very exciting discovery this week: they sell Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks in the UK! I don’t know how I could have missed it although in my defence the barista did say they’re new for this autumn. So yummy, especially with whipped cream on top!

9. My husband went away for a golf weekend on Friday so I’ve been on my own with the kids all weekend. I really take my hat off to all the single mums out there, it is bloody hard work! Saturday was spent ferrying them around to various activities (football, swimming, tutor) and then a friend whose husband was also away came over with her kids in the evening. The children had pizza and shared some of my birthday chocolates while watching a movie (although I think Clemmie managed to get more chocolate on her than in her!) and we had Thai takeaway and a glass of wine or two.

Now I’m just waiting for my other half to walk through the front door so I can take a hot bath and then curl up in front of the TV to watch the third series of Homeland. Unfortunately the week has not ended on a good note as someone close to me was admitted to hospital today. Hopefully, it won’t be for long and we’re all doing our best to stay positive.

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend. X

  1. Although you were left alone with the kids, It sounds like a good weekend nevertheless !
    The breakfast…yummm!
P.S I hope whoever is admitted to hospital is alright now. May you guys find strength through this hard time.

  2. Hi there! Happy Sunday:) I really love this post! Eggs Benedict is one of my faves as well. I’ve got a quick question…where did you get your pinterest follow button? I’ve been trying to figure out how to add a button to my page but no luck!

    • I know it’s so yummy. I will have to try to make it at home one day. OK so I’m a complete technophobe but for the Pinterest button I got an image from Google and added it to the blog sidebar using the image widget and linking it to my Pinterest page in the URL box. I hope that makes sense. I think I had to scale the image a bit as well to make it fit in the sidebar. X

  3. I hope your friend will recover as soon as possible!
I might have an eggs benedict for lunch with something now that you reminded me of it…
What did you surprise yourself with from Space NK? Their website is appealing…
I have been looking for a patterned capri for ages. I would like to wear it as an everyday pants so the material of it is essential. I love the Salabasana 7/8 Yoga Capris at Sweaty Betty but I am afraid the material of it shouts “gym pants” (or yoga pants HAHA).
I was smiling when Angela and you were having comments about the Pumpkin Spice Latte and now you can enjoy the same beverage! Have you two met in person?
Can you play golf or is this an only for men activity?
I went to the Jamie Oliver place with a girlfriend when I was last in London. Cute place. My husband and I also checked out the Gordon Ramsay restaurant but the atmosphere was too stiff for my liking.
The rosemary and mint pots look charming. I miss my plants… sip, sip… 😛
Those tiles are fabulous! Did you pick them out? Or was this a team effort with your husband?
Since I don’t shop for clothes, magazines make me uneasy. Last week I received a thick Marie Clare (UK addition) and I found myself looking at clothes online simply from looking at the magazine. I even made an oath that I will shop at baukjen.com next time I find something that I actually like. Nothing at the moment… but I bought a lot from their maternity collection when Zoárd was in my belly (isabellaoliver) so I am guessing I will eventually fall in love with something they make. I need it to be edgy though. 😛

    xoxo, Eszter

    • I bought a Diptyque candle from Space NK but I love pretty much everything in there. The yoga clothes from Sweaty Betty are so comfortable but the pants are in quite a heavy jersey material so may be too warm for where you live? I don’t play golf although I’m sure plenty of women do. My husband is not a morning person but will happily get up at 6am to go to the golf course!
We picked the tiles together but he is usually not that bothered and will just agree with whatever I choose. I haven’t looked at Baukjen.com…Am also trying to cut down on the amount of clothes I buy (easier said than done). I haven’t met Angela in person, only through the blogs. Btw I think you wrote in an earlier comment that you used to live in Weybridge which is only 20 minutes down the road from where I live! Small world. Hope you have a good week. X
