{The lovely flowers that my parents brought last weekend are still going strong and brightening up the house on grey, rainy days.}
{I am determined to improve my photography skills and to that end have invested in two ‘female friendly’ books: The Busy Girl’s Guide to Digital Photography by Lorna Yabsley and A Beautiful Mess Photo Idea Book by Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman – the sisters behind one of my favourite blogs.}
{I’m off to Bruges for a weekend with some girlfriends in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait. I’ve never been before so if anyone has any tips on what to see/do apart from eat cake, drink coffee/wine and sleep I would be most grateful.}
{I’m not overweight but like many of us I could do with losing a few pounds before bikini season is upon us. I generally eat quite healthily but I have a sweet tooth and can often be found raiding the biscuit tin at 4pm to satisfy those afternoon sugar cravings. I’ve heard good things about the 5:2 diet so thought I would give that a go for a few weeks.}
{Like father like daughter. Not satisfied with having got the boys into golf, my husband came home with a club for Clemmie this week. Looks like I’m destined to be the only non-golfer in our household!}
Happy Friday to you all! Hope you have a fantastic weekend. X
Love this!!
Thank you x
The best thing I did in Bruges was got lost. Just wandering the back streets was wonderful. Have a great time. Eat lots of chocolate – make sure there are no 2-days whilst you’re there!
That sounds fun and chocolate I can definitely cope with. What are 2-days? x
The days when you can only eat 500 cals on the 5:2 diet. Xx
Ha ha yes of course! I had already forgotten about the diet – that’s how committed I am! But Bruges will be all about the chocolate and wine! Xx
Love all these photographs, especially the last. 🙂 I am going to look into those books because I can always use hints for my photography. Bruges, how wonderful — all I can think of is lace, chocolate and crystal. Lucky you!
Thank you. Yes I’m really looking forward to a girlie weekend. I have been away for the odd night since the kids were born but never for longer than one night. But the time is right for some me-time. X
Bruges is such a lovely place. I just walked around and rode the canal cruise…and took lots of photos ❤ oh…and I also ate a Belgian waffle 😉 Enjoy your trip!
Oh that sounds lovely. I’m looking forward to two days of no one shouting ‘mummy!’ every five minutes! X
Lovely photos as always! Those flowers are indeed a day brightener and Clemmie is one fashionable little girl in her stripes.
Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you so much Donna. We do love stripes in this household! Hope you have a great weekend too. X
Bruges is a wonderful place! Perfect for photographs. Try the peach beer and local chocolates xx
Ooh that sounds divine, will definitely try that. Xx
I’ve nominated you! http://bohoclub.wordpress.com/2014/04/25/the-sisterhood-award/
Thank you so much! That really means a lot. xxx
Can’t wait to see your pictures from Bruges! Have fun!
Thank you. It looks very picturesque so I’m sure there will be lots of photo opportunities. X
God I’d love to just skip over to Bruge for the weekend! I so miss that about living in the UK. Australia is just too far away from everything!
Ooh but you get lots of lovely sun. I’ve never been to Australia but it’s definitely on my list of places to visit. X
That’s great! My daughter is a golfer too!!!
I think it’s a lovely sport as boys and girls can play it together and you can carry on into adulthood. Do you play? I’ve never tried, don’t think I have the patience for it! X
What is this 5:2 diet? Clemmie is a cute golfer girl 🙂 Bruges is wonderful! Take a boat ride in the canals. And eat lots of belgian waffle 🙂 Sooooooo goood 🙂 Have a great trip! xoxo Fanni
The 5:2 diet is where you eat normally five days a week and have two days of fasting with max 500 calories. I’m so looking forward to a weekend away although I will miss my family I think it does us mums good to have a break now and again. xxx
Oooh, a girls trip to Bruges?! That sounds awesome! Maybe it’s because I’m all the way across the pond, but anywhere over on your side sounds way cooler than somewhere in the US. 😛
I am SO with ya on the losing a few pounds before bikini season! I don’t even want to think about putting on a bathing suit right now so I really need to crack down myself. Good luck on the photography! There are some rules and suggestions, but other than that, it’s a lot of practice! 🙂
I know I can’t wait! Although slightly nervous about leaving the kids I know I could do with a break. I’m hoping to go to the States next year. I lived in Massachusetts for a year when I was 19 but haven’t been to the US since 2002 when my husband and I went to NYC. I’m hoping the diet will work in time for the summer although I seem to be eating a lot on the non fasting days so I’m not that certain it will! X
