Blonde Ambition

Apart from a rather unfortunate encounter with a bottle of red hair dye in my late teens (my hair was a gorgeous vibrant red for two washes and then a horrible light orange hue for months), I have always been blonde. These days my natural colour is definitely at the mousy end of the spectrum, thus requiring a helping hand from either the sun (unfortunately rarely seen on these shores) or a tinfoil wielding hairdresser to restore it to the shade of blonde I was blessed with as a child.

At the moment my tresses are in dire need of some TLC. I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but I haven’t visited a hairdresser since the end of July (before we went on our summer holiday..) and three months between haircuts is far too long. Part of the reason why I haven’t made that call and booked an appointment is that I just find it such a bore. I’m fine for the first hour or so, having a cup of coffee and reading magazines, but I resent having to give up the two or three hours it takes to have a full head of highlights, cut and blow dry.

But today when an email offering 50% off all colour treatments landed in my inbox, I finally took the plunge and booked an appointment for Friday. I had been toying with the idea of going slightly darker but I think I’m going to stick with my regular colour. Length-wise I’m afraid there’s nothing much to get excited about either as I like my hair to be at least shoulder length so I can tie it up and wear it wavy or straight.

I am tempted by this picture of the always perfectly coiffed Jennifer Aniston, It would mean chopping a few inches off but I suspect my hairdresser will recommend that anyway to get rid of three months of split ends…

  1. I love Jennifer Aniston’s perfect mane. I would love to see a pic of your hair post the tryst with your hairdresser 🙂

  2. I also find it a bit of a bore going to the hairdresser. I have been blessed with a lot of hair so the task of putting the foils in always takes forever (I am also a blonde) . I am always pleased when I have sprinted out of the hairdressers and had a look in the mirror at home though. Enjoy your day of beauty and I say go for a little change, gotta live a little 😉

  3. I also have blonde hair, but need some “help” with it. It also takes me while to get myself to the saloon, because I have to get a babysitter etc…. I like the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner. You will have a great time! And look fab afterwards:) Sienna’s and Blake’s hairstyle is rocking! I love them:)

  4. I totally needed this hair inspiration! I am following you on Pinterest and spent time I did not have hemmming and hawwwwwing over all the blondes. I am in a period of needing to re-fresh my blonde. Thanks, as always 🙂

  5. Hair inspiration made me think a lot:D I’m blonde already for several years. Two weeks ago I colored my hair a little darker and this weekend I’m going to go dark. And this pictures made me think change or not. I care about my hair and style. It all the time looks wonderful with lots of volume like I have lots of hair.. but in reality after lots of years my hair started to break and I decided not to bleach them some time and to go darker. But I so like blonde…:/

    • It’s a difficult decision, even though I never do anything drastic with my hair I’m always on tenterhooks at the hairdressers in case it turns out bad.
I think you’ll look gorgeous blonde or dark and if you give your hair a break from the bleach you can always go lighter again in the future. X

      • Thank you. That what I’m thinking about.. that next year I can come back if I don’t like anymore. I never complain about my hair but now it came to the point when I can see minuses of bleaching, even noone around can see.
